Ghost Corner by David Nieuwoudt is inspired by the extreme coastal area around Cape Agulhas near Elim, known as 'Spookdraai' where many ships have been wrecked and folklore claims that the ghosts of sailors who perished through the years can be seen wandering the wild waters. The wines in this range are as intriguing and extreme as the story of their origin at the southernmost tip of the Cape winelands.

Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc

A stellar South African Sauvignon Blanc, maturated on fine lees for added richness and a textured mouthfeel. The Ghost Corner range is inspired by the extreme coastal area around Cape Agulhas, known as ‘Spookdraai’. These wines are as intriguing and extreme as the story of their origin.

Ghost Corner Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc

The Ghost Corner Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc, takes its name from the wild, treacherous coastline on the southernmost tip of Africa, where many ships have been shipwrecked. The grapes come from cool Elim vineyards, and undergo a long and slow natural 'wild' fermentation, in 400L French oak barrels, creating depth and layers of flavour. The wine is then barrel matured for up to 10 months with monthly battônage of the lees.

Ghost Corner Semillon

Winemaker David Nieuwoudt created the Ghost Corner brand in 2007, with grapes coming from cool Elim vineyards. The maritime climate and deep, lime-rich soils with slate and gravel deposits, gives rise to exceptional white wines, including this Semillon, coming from 17 year old vines.

The Ghost Corner range is inspired by the extreme coastal area around Cape Agulhas, known as ‘Spookdraai’ where many ships have been wrecked. Sailors call the Bowline the ‘king of knots’. This white Bordeaux blend ‘ties the knot’ between the perfect pairing of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

Ghost Corner Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from Elim vineyards for David Nieuwoudt's, Ghost Corner range. Malolactic fermentation is completed in barrel, followed by maturation in equal portions of 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, 4th- and 5th fill French oak barrels to create a beautifully crafted, elegant Pinot Noir.

Ghost Corner Syrah

The first Syrah in the range from the challenging but rewarding 2020 vintage will take you on a sensory journey. This wine, with its distinctive white pepper undertones, evokes the bygone days of the trade route, when sailing ships carried treasured goods such as spices and porcelain from the East to the West.
