De Grendel
Amandelboord Pinotage
First released in 2015 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the De Grendel cellar, this a relatively young addition to the farm's flagship wines. Pinotage, especially from the Durbanville ward, was a favourite of De Grendel owner Sir De Villiers Graaff’s grandfather and namesake, the 2nd Baronet Graaff, and the wine – made from De Grendel’s Durbanville vineyards – was inspired by the young Sir De Villiers Graaff’s memories of horse riding through the farm’s almond orchards with his grandfather. WHAT'S NEW
The Grapesmith wines by Simonsig
Two fascinating and exceptional handcrafted white blends broadly inspired by the Rhône.
Die Kluisenaar
Roussanne | Marsanne
The legend of the 'Hill of Hermitage', located on the banks of the beautiful Rhône river in France, goes back to the Crusades in the 13th century. A wounded knight, Gaspard de Sterimberg, sought refuge on the hill to recover from his wounds suffered in battle. He planted vines and lived there as a hermit. His sojourn is commemorated by a small Chapel of Saint Christopher on the crest of the hill of Hermitage. That is why the Crusader’s cross which is lasered into the glass connects Die Kluisenaar (Hermit in Afrikaans) to the cradle of this traditional white Hermitage blend of Roussanne and Marsanne.

Mediterraneo
Roussanne | Marsanne | Grenache Blanc | Clairette blanche | Verdelho
Vitis vinifera or the vine species that brings forth wine is also referred to as a Mediterranean weed. Vines have been cultivated around the Mediterranean sea for millennia. The Cape is blessed with a Mediterranean climate, but since we are in the Southern Hemisphere our vineyards are grown under the Southern Cross, in ancient African soil. All the grape varieties used in this blend are grown extensively in the regions surrounding the Mediterranean sea. These vines are perfectly suited to the Mediterranean climate and quite hardy to flourish in drier conditions.

Was Jou Hanepoot by Marras
Marras 'WAS JOU' HANEPOOT dry white is made from Muscat de Alexandria grapes (locally known as hanepoot), which just so happens to be a favourite grape for roaming baboons. A baboon will stroll right past vineyards ripe with the best Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz grapes, but they will put their bodies on the line to steal Hanepoot bunches from a farmer's kitchen. "So 'was jou hanne en sanitize jou kop' because sometimes a glass of wine is all you need to keep things in perspective when the pressure is on," muses Winemaker Martin Marras.
